Key Tech Labs is excited to submit its Pop-Up Community Center as an entry for the Land Art Generator Initiative (LAGI) 2025 Fiji competition. Our mobile, self-sustaining center provides clean energy, water, and essential community resources, bridging gaps in education, digital literacy, and sustainability. Designed to be deployed in rural and off-grid communities, this center transforms public spaces into hubs of learning, creation, and resilience.
Many communities worldwide lack access to safe, engaging, and resource-rich environments. This solar-powered facility serves as a multi-purpose space providing education, entrepreneurship, and sustainability solutions. More than just a learning space, it is a mini-production facility generating food, water, and energy while fostering community growth.
Launch Date: January 6, 2025
Submission Deadline: May 5, 2025
Total Awards: $200,000 USD
Winning Teams: Two winning proposals will receive $100,000 USD each to develop a prototype in Fiji.
Additional Recognition: Selected submissions will be published in a full-color book and exhibited throughout Fiji.
Our Pop-Up Community Center is a Key Tech Labs S.T.R.E.A.M Center, incorporating:
Science: A greenhouse utilizing aeroponic vertical gardening for food production.
Technology: A makerspace for hands-on learning, including solar panel assembly and 3D printing.
Reading: A library and digital classroom with internet access for hybrid learning.
Engineering: An open-air construction workshop for skill-building projects.
Art: A community theater for cultural events and storytelling.
Math: A community kitchen for food education and entrepreneurship.
This facility isn’t just a shelter—it’s a self-sustaining production hub addressing the Food-Water-Energy Nexus. Designed for maximum impact, the center includes:
Solar Energy: 10kW solar microgrid storing energy for power, refrigeration, and remote internet access.
Water Capture: A rainwater harvesting system collecting up to 56,490 gallons annually.
Food Production: Greenhouse yielding 2,268 lbs of produce and 150 lbs of fish annually.
Cold Storage & Internet: Powered by stored solar energy, ensuring reliable refrigeration and connectivity in off-grid locations.
We are actively seeking partners, investors, and host sites to bring these centers to life. Your support can help expand this initiative and provide essential resources to underserved communities.
